Which OT Services are provided by Virtual OT 4 Kids?

​Just like you would expect from an in person OT. We provide the following OT services Virtually for 

struggling learners in general education: 

 

  • Assist with periodic screenings (including both data collection and analysis), provide teacher training, model activities to classrooms or small groups, and assist with team collaboration & problem solving. 

  • OT Assessment: standardized tests, questionnaires, & interviews of a student’s fine and gross motor skills, visual perception, attention to task, and sensory processing to determine eligibility for OT services.

  • Devising of Individualized OT Goals & Plan

  • OT treatment sessions per IEP

  • Services for Students who are not eligible for special education who may receive OT services under a Section 504 plan.

  • Training and resources for school personnel and families: Virtual OT 4 Kids can provide training in child development and the impact of physical and mental health on learning and participation at school.

  •  Participating on collaborative teams: As members of IEP teams, technical assistance teams, problem-solving teams, and curriculum committees, Virtual OT 4 Kids bring their unique skills to aid students in accessing learning opportunities.

How does online occupational therapy work?

Virtual OT 4 Kids breaks school-based OT into four categories—all of which can be treated by our online therapists. These categories include:

  • Sensory regulation/Sensory processing skills

  • Fine and gross motor skills

  • Visual perceptual skills

  • School-related self-care organizational skills

Occupational therapy’s expertise includes activity and environmental analysis and modification with a goal of reducing the barriers to school success & participation.

 

The platform includes a full suite of tools, including an interactive whiteboard, fun games, goal-based worksheets, and much more. Online OT can take place in a variety of school settings provided that there is:

  • An Internet-connected computer with speakers or headphones

  • An externally-mounted, adjustable webcam (a second webcam is optional, and enhances the service)

  • Typical OT session materials, including writing tools, scissors, paper, putty, beads, coins, zippers, shoelaces, and more

  • An onsite support person who assembles necessary materials requested by the OT and supports the therapist before and during sessions

  • Space for the student(s) to move around, as needed, and be seen fully by the camera(s)
